Profiling HP Labs' stories of innovation for the future
Growing up, I always loved the movie Real Genius, so when we got to work with Labs it was like a science dream fulfilled.
HP Labs wanted to shed light on their leadership as innovators. We assigned investigative journalists embedded at HP Labs to highlight their leading edge technology development with human stories, photography, illustration, motion, and video.
FINDING THE ANGLE
We described technical details in more accessible language and found people-driven narratives that made the stories easier for a non-research audience to understand.
SKETCHING IT OUT
We created a “Labs notebook” animation that explained the big idea driving the research. And we pulled all the pieces together to make a complicated story fun.
HPE NEXT NEXT
Hewlett Packard Labs sees a future beyond the next big thing. They call it the Next Next.
future thinking
The full series of 12 articles was published over about a span of 15 months. Our investigative journalists and art directors worked closely with subject matter experts at HP Labs to bring these complex thought leadership stories to life.
One of our most popular articles, The Ethics of AI, written by Ready State journalist Curt Hopkins, generated interest from The Atlantic, which featured Curt and other HP Labs experts in their video spot on the subject.
